Philips | FDNY (Fire Department of New York)

Fire fighters have many things they need and want to do. Transferring rescue data is not one of them. FDNY needed an easier-to-use solution for transferring data from their FR3’s after a rescue. We assembled a multidisciplinary team and started with user research and understanding the workflow and challenges.

 

We followed an agile, human-centered UCD process by mapping the user flow, doing contextual analysis, creating low and high fidelity prototypes, and testing and evaluating quickly through multiple cycles. Our solutions ranged from new digital road maps to simple, practical fixes like adding a tab to a difficult-to-grab SD card.
